When the team at Henricksen submitted a proposal to refresh their New York City office for 240 people, they did not know that by the time the job was awarded, media, workplace, and businesses worldwide would be staggering through a global pandemic.

“Completing a project for one of the world’s largest media empires — during a pandemic, no less — requires a lot of focus, great products, and much perseverance” stsates Joanne Hickman, Business Development Manager at Henricksen.

Henricksen’s New York team maintained momentum on the project in partnership with the design firm ENV. “This project kicked off before the full lockdown happened in 2020. We were all tumbling through a new experience of remote working and design meetings over video calls,” shares Annie Lee, Principal at ENV, “The Henricksen team was exceptionally efficient and shared knowledge and research that we could rely on.” Together, the teams coordinated all the major project partners via Zoom, undertook supply chain challenges, tackled labor limitations, and managed an install that could not disrupt workflow.

The Henricksen team partnered with Allsteel to determine Altitude A8 benching was the best solution for the workstations, while the private offices became a blend of Allsteel Approach and Involve. Allsteel’s flexible and mobile solutions became even more critical to support social distancing requirements.

“Joanne was always there to navigate the unknown roads of the pandemic furniture world,” continues Lee. As the project drew to completion, Henricksen’s operational strengths stood out. As resources were deployed, obstacles removed, and problems solved, the News Corp team could return to a new work environment conducive to supporting the fast-paced nature of their business.
